MATIN
MATIN
At Bunkyo Ward bakery MATIN, discover takeaway artisan loaves, flaky croissants, and mashed potato sandwich bread crafted to enrich daily meals.
01 / ABOUT THE PLACE
Set along a quiet prefectural road, MATIN is a counter-service bakery where customers select loaves from behind a glass display case. Spot the blue sign out front and step inside to find a spotless shop lined neatly with crusty rustic breads, savoury filled buns, and baked sweets.
For everyday meals, the bakery’s crusty baguettes stand out with their deep, toasted aroma and wheat flavours that deepen with every chew, alongside whole-wheat sandwich loaves prized for their grain fragrance and springy crumb. The potato sandwich bread, made by kneading mashed potatoes directly into the dough, yields a moist, dense crumb with a gentle touch of salt. Torn off as is or lightly toasted, it reveals a rich, subtle sweetness.
Breakfast staples and teatime treats offer plenty of variety. Flaky croissants come layered with fragrant butter, while sweet, pillowy corn buns and cream-filled milk baguettes cater to any sweet craving. Slices of rich, lightly sweetened cheesecake and muffins round out the selection, providing easy additions to take home alongside the bread.
Purchases can be made quickly using cashless payments, including credit cards, transit IC cards, and PayPay. From a morning baguette to a sweet pastry for the afternoon, the shop offers dependable baking for everyday routines.
